Ukraine relies on the support of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in the course of discussion of situation in Ukraine during Assembly’s session in January.
Chairperson of the Verkhovna
Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr B. Groysman said this during the meeting with the delegation of PACE Presidential Committee
headed by PACE President Anne Brasseur on Thursday. “We hope that consideration and discussion of the Ukrainian issue will be held during the PACE session,” he said, adding that our country relies on the support of the Assembly, particularly, in the issue of liberating Nadiia Savchenko, who is illegally detained in prison in Russia.
Chairperson of the Parliament passed members of the delegation the Address of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the European Parliament, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, national parliaments of the EU member states, the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia regarding mass shooting of people near Volnovakha in Ukraine and the Address of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on releasing the illegally detained people’s deputy of Ukraine, member of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to PACE Nadiia Viktorivna Savchenko on the territory of the Russian Federation that were adopted during this week.
Volodymyr Groysman addressed members of the delegation asking PACE to find
“an unconventional approach to release Nadia Savchenko.”When discussing the situation in Ukraine, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that “we are in the situation of unprecedented overt aggression on the part of Russia.” “This requires consolidation both inside Ukraine and on the international arena,” he emphasized.
“Russian weapon daily kills Ukrainians. Meanwhile, Ukraine did not even touch foreign territory. We consistently perform our commitments, while Russia in no case has showed readiness to stop aggression,” stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
In the course of the meeting, Volodymyr Groysman noted that Ukraine is ready to implement reforms and fulfill the tasks it faces. “This is primarily the constitutional reform, decentralization, formation of a qualitative system to fight corruption, establishment of efficient court and law-enforcement system,” he said. “These are fundamental things we are working on at present,” added Volodymyr Groysman.
